SHODDY BODY?

“Health…a colourful re-introduction to your body.”

As an old Arabian proverb states, “He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.” Health is essential to our well-being, and we only have three places to live in, with our physical body being the most important.

Our body is not just a temporary residence, but also the greatest instrument we will ever own.

Unfortunately, many people treat their bodies like a woodshed, only using it when needed and neglecting it until it starts to fall apart. Instead of investing time and effort in maintenance, they wait until their physical state becomes messy, run-down, and unsafe. However, regular maintenance and care will save you the risk and cost of fixing it later.

So, how do you treat your body? Do you see it as a temple or a woodshed? While it may seem urgent to focus on other things in the short term, the best way to care for the people you love is to care for yourself. Dependence on others to fulfil your basic human needs is not ideal because what happens when they are no longer there? How much stress does it cause people you care about when you are not looking after yourself as well as you could?

It’s important to negate the old adage “I’ll take care of you, and you take care of me.”

Investing in your health is crucial. Nurturing your overall well-being will not only benefit you but also those around you. So then embrace an altered version of the old age, “I’ll take care of me for you, and you take care of you for me.”
