KNOW YOUR OUTCOME
To implement the “Know Your Outcome” strategy, you need to follow five steps. The first step is to state what you want in the positive. For example, instead of saying “I don’t want to be fat,” your outcome might be “I am going to become healthy and lose 5 kilos.”
The second step is to specify your present situation. You need to know where you are now in order to figure out what steps you need to take to reach your desired outcome.
The third step is to specify your desired outcome. What will you see, hear, and feel when you have achieved it? Make it compelling and vivid, and have more than one way to get there to increase choice and freedom.
The fourth step is to specify your evidence procedure. How will you know when you have achieved your outcome? Break down your outcome into steps and set milestones to tick off along the way.
The fifth and final step is to ensure that your outcome is congruently desirable, self-initiated and self-maintained, appropriately contextualized, and ecological. You need to know why you want to achieve your outcome, make it something that is good for you and those around you, and clarify the resources you need to get there.
To further clarify your desired outcome, you can ask Cartesian questions such as “What will happen if you get XYZ?” and “What won’t happen if you get XYZ?”
Knowing your outcome is crucial to achieving success. By following the “Know Your Outcome” strategy, you can stay crystal clear on what you want, and achieve it in a more effective and efficient way.
