IT'S ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE PART 1
Our lives are affected by the decisions we make, which are influenced heavily by the knowledge that we have and the feelings that we feel.
As we spoke about last time, philosophy deals essentially with the logical side of life (information and thinking habits) while attitude focuses primarily on the emotional issues that affect our very being.
What we know (knowledge) determines our philosophy, while how we feel about what we know, determines our attitude.
It is our emotional nature that governs most of our daily conduct professionally and personally. It is these emotional experiences that determine our behaviour.
How we feel about things will freeze us or inspire us to take action each given day. Like thoughts, emotions can propel us either way.
Note: how we feel about the areas of the wheel of life (including people, our work, our homes, our finances, and the world around us) form our attitude. (look up Wheel of Life in our blog)
With the right attitude, humans can move mountains. With the wrong attitude, we can be crushed by a grain of sand. Thus having the right attitude is an essential prerequisite for success and happiness.
We must constantly examine our feelings about our role in the world we live in. We must review the things that may be having a wrong effect on our current attitude.
We need to use our past as a school, not a weapon. What is meant by that is, don’t beat yourself up about past mistakes, faults, failures, and losses. The things of the past, both good and bad are part of life experiences.
Let the past educate us and bring value into our lives rather than allow the past to overwhelm us. We should allow it to instruct us and increase our value.
Our past will either be our master or our servant. Until we amend our philosophy, we can not repair our attitude.
We can’t move forward into a bright future until we close the chapter on our past.
