KNOW WHERE THE STUMPS ARE
S.Y.S.T.E.M. Save Yourself Time, Energy, and Money
A Roman Catholic priest, an Anglican priest, and a Baptist preacher were standing near a river conversing when the subject of which church was nearest to the teaching of God arose. The Roman Catholic priest said that of course there was no argument that the Roman Catholic Church was. They were descended directly from the Apostles; in fact, Peter was their first Pope. He said in fact so close are we that I can even walk on water like Jesus and he preceded to walk on the water to the other side.
The Anglican Priest said the Anglican Church was very similar in origin to the Catholics and he too demonstrated his ability to walk on water like Jesus Christ. The Baptist preacher said that he could not care where their origins were; he studied the word and preached it purely and without any embellishments. Since they could walk on water he should be even better at it. He took one step forward and sunk knee-deep into the river. The Roman Catholic Priest whispered to the Anglican Priest, “Do you think we should tell him where the rocks are?”
This joke says it all. It is about how we process the information that we are receiving.
It is so important for us to keep our mental clarity sharp by getting organised, staying stimulated, and exploring the world around us.
Getting organised means getting little (and big) daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly S.Y.S.T.E.M.S. (saving your self-time energy, and money) so that you can get more done, and have more fun, reduce the conscious effort required to do stuff that isn’t as high on the list of what’s important to you (values, etc.) and spend more time, energy or money on the things that ARE important to you. It allows you to ‘run on autopilot’ with stuff you have to do that doesn’t excite you much (think of showering and how automatic this process is, or driving!), and then spend more conscious energy on what is interesting to you.
Exploring and expanding how we think will help us get organised so that we are more efficient and effective with our three most precious resources – time, energy, and money.
It is also important to stretch the mental capability to stay stimulated by challenging ourselves to go, grow, and glow at the next level of us: the upgraded version. To recognise that we are more powerful than we know and that enhancing mental capacity is a beautiful way of contributing to the world around us by having power with others to build together. Anything else is power over others and simply two crabs in a bucket trying to climb out and get on top: No one ends up getting anywhere.
Education and lifelong learning are important components to utilise to explore the world around us. Redefining what learning means to us (often conjures pictures of more blackboards and compulsory, boring texts you have to read, and grumpy teachers!), finding effective ways to learn often involves more right brain activity, and identifying what topics get you fired up and wired up.
Thought To Ponder:
How are you recording your journey or discovery each day? How are you planning your monthly, weekly, and daily to-do’s? and how are you stimulating your mind to take you to greater heights?
I would love you to post your thoughts.
Until next time
