5 Steps For Getting Things Done

"The secret of getting things done is to act!"
I personally like to keep things simple.  If the process is to long, I won’t tend to get through it.  So often with self help guides to getting things done,  they have so many steps that by the time I have spent an hour working out what I need to do, I really don’t feel like doing anything with it.
This in mind, I thought I would share with you the 5 steps I take when I want to get something done.
  • Get A Routine – Get into good routines; over time it gets easier. Think about what you need to achieve in a day.
  • Reward Yourself – My philosophy in life is to work hard and then celebrate a job well done.  Reward yourself when you achieve each small step, even the easiest ones, such as calling a gym to check the prices, or making your bed.
  • Plan For Fun – You won’t be able to stay motivated if your life is all about work and no fun. In your timetable, make sure you commit to doing things you enjoy, whether it be taking a dance lesson or going out for coffee with friends.
  • Don’t Give Up – If you miss a goal, or break a routine you are trying to keep, don’t be too hard on yourself. This is all part of the process. It is important when things aren’t going to plan to focus on the positive things you have achieved so far.   Also reflecting on the last goal you had and revising your game plan: was it a realistic step? Do you need to break it down smaller? Once you have thought about it, then get back into it.
  • Have Positive Support – Everything affects the way we live our lives and how much we get out of it. This includes the people we hang out with. Are the people you are associating with a positive influence on your life? It’s a good idea to have someone supportive to encourage you along, and even better if this supportive person wants to try and reach the same goals.
What is a goal that you would like to achieve? How about you try applying these 5 steps to support you in achieving it.

Would love to hear how you have done, so leave a reply.
